Working mostly with acrylics on canvas, Paddy Duffy is a Dublin painter. His paintings are a burst of colour, huge, abstract and graphic. Influenced by the artwork of comics and retro posters, Paddy works in brilliant technicolor, creating worlds of geometric labyrinths and crystalline structures. Elements from the natural world appear mechanized and power driven in his work; bees, flowers and insects are presented as intricate clockwork gadgets, while ships and trains take on a typographic style, reminiscent of typesetting and letterpress printing blocks.
